El acu\u00edfero que subyace a\u00a0este salar cuenta con importantes reservas de Litio, un elemento estrat\u00e9gico para la transici\u00f3n energ\u00e9tica que enfrenta la sociedad del siglo XXI, transform\u00e1ndolo de esta manera en un sitio de alto inter\u00e9s nacional e internacional.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Debido a esto, el Grupo de Ambientes Extremos del Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n en Tecnolog\u00edas para la Sociedad (C+) de Ingenier\u00eda UDD comenz\u00f3 a desarrollar en 2023 el proyecto \u201cMASA: Cooperaci\u00f3n Chile-Brasil para investigaciones de los Metales Alcalinos en los Salares Andinos\u201d, con el objetivo de realizar estudios geol\u00f3gicos y microbiol\u00f3gicos en lo que es considerado un ambiente extremo similar al que puede existir en otros planetas. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, la investigaci\u00f3n busca, mediante el estudio de los minerales, aguas y comunidades microbianas existentes, establecer par\u00e1metros cuantificables que sean de utilidad para la toma de decisiones y, de esta manera, conservar el equilibrio del medio ambiente en un escenario de miner\u00eda de Litio y otros metales. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El estudio interdisciplinario se ha estado llevando a cabo por un equipo de investigadores de la UDD, Universidad de Atacama, Universidad de Santiago y del Instituto LAMIR de la Universidad Federal de Paran\u00e1 en Brasil.&nbsp;Hace algunas semanas,&nbsp;el equipo de investigadores viaj\u00f3 al salar para realizar una&nbsp;recolecci\u00f3n de muestras de minerales, aguas\/salmueras y tapetes microbianos. Adem\u00e1s, se realizaron observaciones de flora y fauna, complementadas con datos de profesionales de CONAF.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cComo grupo, nos propusimos realizar un muestreo de rocas, aguas y tapetes microbianos en diferentes componentes del sistema hidrol\u00f3gico asociado al salar. Apostamos a que esta combinaci\u00f3n de disciplinas y la aplicaci\u00f3n de diferentes t\u00e9cnicas anal\u00edticas m\u00e1s avanzadas, nos van a dar luces de c\u00f3mo funciona este sistema natural\u201d, se\u00f1al\u00f3 Mauricio Calder\u00f3n, profesor de Geolog\u00eda UDD e investigador del C+, quien es el responsable del proyecto. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00abAc\u00e1 tenemos la parte geoqu\u00edmica, biol\u00f3gica, flora, fauna, entonces debemos entender la interacci\u00f3n de estos aspectos para poder proteger el lugar. Si no comprendemos esto, no tendremos las herramientas necesarias para entender lo que pasa en el ambiente, ni para proponer ideas para protegerlo\u201d, sostuvo Anelize Bahniuk, directora del Instituto LAMIR, respecto a la importancia de que en el proyecto participaran investigadores de diferentes tem\u00e1ticas y con diferentes enfoques.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Por \u00faltimo, y en relaci\u00f3n a las posibles conclusiones y pasos a seguir respecto de la investigaci\u00f3n, Mar\u00eda Estrella Alcam\u00e1n, investigadora del C+ de Ingenier\u00eda UDD, se\u00f1al\u00f3 que \u201ces importante ver el estado actual antes de que se intervenga este ecosistema y, poder as\u00ed, a trav\u00e9s de nuestro estudio, alertar y contribuir a la protecci\u00f3n de estos ambientes y evitar un da\u00f1o ecosist\u00e9mico ecol\u00f3gico y no perder nuestros recursos naturales\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finalmente, se espera que los resultados y conclusiones de este estudio sean fundamentales para entender tanto el origen y evoluci\u00f3n del Salar de Maricunga y de lagunas altoandinas, como los ecosistemas que se desarrollan en torno a estos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*MASA
